The University of Salford had gone under a brand refresh and now uses a new distinctive font, a vibrant colour palette and the ‘slash’, as one of its most used and recognisable brand elements. This is the central element of the Graduation Book with the concept of revealing text and completing a sentence when opening the cover, which gives an interesting angle.
We wanted to keep this simple but also make it special as a reminder of the good times in the university and be a memento of a proud event and accomplishment. The finish processes were the ones that brought this idea to life with a die-cut of the slash in the centre and the year 2023 done with blind emboss. The main colours were white and yellow throughout which gives this a different vibe of Salford’s previous graduation books. The cover has also gloss laminate which gives a shiny look and feel and protects the paper from possible damage due to use.
